| April 13, 2011 The April Business to Business After Five Event was held at Kalyana Support Systems, one of the Chamber’s newer members. The weather was considerably better for this event and as a result, a large number of members and non-members attended. Kalyana Support Systems is located at 1249 Colborne St. W. (in the former County building). They are a client centered organization committed to working with parents and professionals to deliver quality, therapeutic and educational programs. | April 1, 2011 On Friday, April 1st, 2011 approximately 25 members and non-members assembled at the Paris Curling Club on Oak Street for the 4th annual Paris Chamber Funspiel. This annual event is always enjoyed by everyone who attends. What’s fun is that you don’t have to be a “curler” to participate! Several prizes were up for grabs. Congratulations go out to Sue Kalmar for winning the LCBO gift certificate and to Tina Smith for winning the solar lamp which was kindly provided by Carol Forbes of Elegant Solar Lights. Many people tried to win the turkey in the “Turkey Shoot” but the lucky winner was Grace Williams. A very special thank you to Kim Popkey of Dominos Pizza for providing a delicious “after curling snack” of pizza, wings and garlic bread to everyone who participated. What a great way to end the day – thanks Dominos!! Lastly, thank you to Cindy Hiscock, Bryan Maude, Linda Stripe and Sue Swinton for organizing this annual event. | March 1, 2011 The March Business to Business After Five Event took place at the Cedar House Grill and Martini Bar on Broadway Street in Paris. The weather was miserable and yet a large crowd braved the cold and rain to come out to the cozy restaurant for an evening of networking, delicious food and drink and prizes too! A group of almost 40 people enjoyed a fantastic lunch in the private dining room prepared by Chef Stephen and his staff. | November 7, 2010 The Paris and District Chamber of Commerce held its Annual General Meeting in conjunction with an Al Dente Wine Tour on Sunday, November 7, 2010. The AGM was held during the breakfast portion of the day. Jades of Paris, Home Building Centre, Cyclepath and Dwayne D. Budgell Funeral Home were the recipients of 10 year awards. The breakfast concluded with the presentation of the 2010/11 Annual Business Awards. The Paris and District Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards are presented annually to companies/businesses/organizations. These companies are nominated by the Chamber Executive as being recognized for demonstrating the Paris and District Chamber of Commerce mission of a “commitment to cooperation in commerce”. The following are the nominees and winners of the awards: New Business of the Year Award – Nominees: SPFX Video Services, M & M Meats, Deb’s Threads and Designs – Winner: Deb’s Threads and Designs Corporate Participant of the Year Award – Nominees: Brant County Power, Best Western Brant Park Inn, Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts – Winner: Best Western Brant Park Inn Business of the Year Award – Nominees: Brant County Power, Grand Experiences, Telfer Place, Best Western Brant Park Inn – Winner: Brant County Power Congratulations to all the nominees and winners! Following the breakfast and AGM we all boarded a bus bound for the Niagara Region for the wine tour. The group of almost 30 toured 3 wineries – Cattail Creek, Peller Estates and Pondview. Each tour provided several tastings as well as informative sessions on the art of wine making and the opportunity to purchase wines not necessarily available at your local liquor store. When the wine tours concluded, the group headed back to Al Dente restaurant in Brantford for a delicious 4 course dinner paired with appropriate wines. What a fabulous way to end a wonderful day! | September 21, 2010 On Tuesday, September 21, 2010 the Chambers of Commerce of Brantford-Brant and Paris joined together to present its 2nd annual trade show at the Best Western Brant Park Inn and Conference Centre. The first trade show was held in 2009 in response to requests from members for more opportunities to market their businesses. Following the success of the initial trade show, it was decided to make this an annual event. The joint trade show was open between 4pm and 7pm and admission was free. 60 Chamber member businesses registered for this event representing more than 40 business sectors. The trade show not only showcased the diversity of our communities’ businesses but also provided excellent networking opportunities for those who participated, either as exhibitors or visitors. | September 8, 2010 On a blustery, wet, early September day, the Paris Grand Golf and Country Club welcomed the Paris and District Chamber of Commerce for its 5th Annual Golf Tournament. A total of 49 golfers participated and a good time was had by all. Everyone was happy to finish their golf game and get into the clubhouse to warm up and enjoy a delicious meal. | June 7, 2010 The Paris and District Chamber of Commerce recently had 2 successful Business to Business After Five events. The May Business to Business After Five event was held at the Brant Museum and Archives on Charlotte Street in Brantford. Those who attended were treated to an informative tour of the facility and had the chance to reminisce about days gone past in Brantford and surrounding area. Special thanks to the Brant Historical Society for their hospitality and patience answering all the questions we had! The June Business to Business After Five event was a joint effort by 3 different Chamber Members. One of the largest crowds ever met at River Ridge Bed and Breakfast for a tour of their lovely accommodations. Thank you to Cathy and Paul Dawson for providing the scenic and comfortable venue A delicious barbeque dinner was provided by Nancy Panasiuk of Forks of the Grand Personal Chef Services. Following dinner everyone got into their vehicles and made the short trek to Glen Morris where Garth and his team from Grand River Rafting were waiting to take everyone on a leisurely raft trip down the Grand. What a wonderful evening this was! The weather couldn’t have been better and the hospitality from each host was outstanding! Thank you for a wonderful evening and for showing the true beauty of the Grand River and surrounding area.
